November 2022: Update 3

It's November 17th as I write this. I'm home alone, and I just knocked out another 1,000+ words for my latest WIP. Typically, I like to do my updates on Fridays since I consider that the "start" of my new week, but tomorrow is going to be insane, so I thought now was just as good a time as any to reflect on my progress.

This week has been super busy, but it has proven itself to be wonderful in terms of inspiration and finding my writing groove. (Thank you to the Writing Gods for bestowing me your grace this week.)

After a super rough start, I'm finally finding my rhythm and getting into the swing of writing a new novel. I'm not writing as fast as I would need to in order to hit 50k words by the end of this month, but I still have hope that I'm going to hit that target.

Currently, I'm about 10k words shy of where I would need to be in order to hit the 50k goal. And, honestly, I don't think that's too bad at all considering I didn't start writing until 1.5 weeks into Wrimo. So, for now, I consider myself doing awesome.

Here's how it broke down this week:

November 11: 863

November 12: 2995

November 13: 1201

November 14: 1718

November 15: 801

November 16: 3113

November 17: 2150

Subtotal: 12,141

Wrimo Total: 17,059

Like I said, not too shabby.

The Plan

Honestly, the plan is just to keep writing. I'm 10,000 shy of where I need to be to hit 50k, and if I give myself some insane goal like 6,000 words every day, I'm going to get too overwhelmed and go into a learned state of helplessness.

Nope... not interested in that, thank you very much.

Instead, I'm just going to focus on putting words on the page. This next week, I've only allotted myself 3 writing days because of the holidays and a trip we're taking to Kentucky. I figured, if I can just get a couple hundred words on the page each day, that'll be a total win in my book.

So, that's the plan. Just put some words on the page and see how far I get.

Until next week, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
